I received my B.S. degree in Biology from Brigham Young University in 1995. I then obtained my dental degree (D.M.D.) from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1998. Following graduation, I entered the United States Air Force and practiced as a general dentist for two years. While I enjoyed practicing general dentistry, I knew I wanted to go back to school and pursue a degree in orthodontics. I completed my two-year orthodontic residency in 2002 from Wilford Hall Medical Center. After graduation, I practiced orthodontics for military families in the Air Force at Yokota AFB, just outside Tokyo, Japan. In the summer of 2004, I completed my Air Force commitment and moved to Elk Grove, California.
Continuing Education & Professional Associations
I love practicing orthodontics! My staff and I feel lucky to be able to serve the Elk Grove community with the knowledge and skills our educations have provided us. I also feel it is important to keep our skills up-to-date and incorporate any new and proven treatments that will allow us to continue to give the best, quality care to our patients. My staff and I complete many hours of continuing education each year.
I also feel it is important to be a member of many professional and community organizations including:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
- California Association of Orthodontists
- Sacramento District Dental Society
- Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists
- Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce
- Better Business Bureau
Because the community helps to support me, I feel it is important to give back and serve them. I am involved in organizations who identify young members of the community in need of orthodontic services, but who cannot afford them, and provide them with quality care pro-bono. I also love to help support local school activities and donate to my patients’ sports or other club activities. My staff and I have also enjoyed going into school classrooms over the years and providing demonstrations about the importance of dental health. We love helping sponsor many Elk Grove youth sporting organizations, as I have seen the positive affect they have had on my own children, as well as in the lives of some of my patients.
I love spending time with my wife, Shannon, and our three children, Ryan, Ashlyn, and Tyler. I enjoy golfing and skiing when I can, attending my boy’s baseball games and helping coach my daughter’s soccer team. We love taking in a Sacramento Rivercats or Kings game when we can.
